Allocator Agent — support and help
Allocator Agent is C8's AI portfolio-construction and risk-analytics assistant for asset managers,
wealth managers and investment teams. This page covers what it does, how to get started, and how to reach us.
What the agent does
- Builds a model portfolio with one of C8's construction methods, from inverse volatility and risk parity to constrained mean-variance, under the limits you set: per-asset bounds, asset-class bands, a maximum drawdown, a turnover cap.
- Compares two to five set-ups side by side, so you can see what a cap or a method choice costs.
- Turns a target into a trade list from your current holdings, within a turnover limit.
- Decomposes a portfolio's risk by holding and by asset class, with drawdown and concentration.
- Evaluates performance over a period, or runs a walk-forward backtest.
It works on listed funds and securities you name, or on your own return or NAV series. It is decision support only:
it does not give personal investment advice, forecast returns, execute trades or monitor compliance.
Getting started
-
In Microsoft 365 Copilot or Microsoft Teams, open
Apps, search for Allocator Agent and choose Add.
If your organisation restricts new apps, your IT administrator can deploy it from the
Microsoft 365 admin center under Settings → Integrated apps.
-
Name the funds you are considering — tickers, ISINs or fund names — and ask your question,
for example “Build a risk parity portfolio from VWRL.LSE, AGGG.LSE and IGLN.LSE in GBP”,
or with limits, “Build a mean-variance portfolio from VWRL.LSE, AGGG.LSE, IGLN.LSE and EMIM.LSE
in GBP with a 10% drawdown limit and at most 40% in any holding”. The agent loads their daily
price history from C8’s market data; there is nothing to upload.
Results come back with a result id (
res_…) you can ask about again.
-
To use your own series instead — unlisted funds, in-house NAVs or an export from your data
provider — ask for an upload link and upload a spreadsheet or CSV: dates in the first column,
one instrument per column. The agent gives you a dataset id (
ds_…) to ask with, e.g.
“Build a risk parity portfolio on ds_…”. To try this first, use our
sample file: six illustrative asset classes
over three years of daily NAVs. The series are synthetic, so figures computed from them are not market data.

-
Sign in with your email and the one-time code we send you, then ask, for example
“Build a risk parity portfolio from VWRL.LSE, AGGG.LSE and IGLN.LSE in GBP”.
The address is the same for every customer and is not a secret; there is no key to copy.
What happens to your data
- Funds you name: only the identifier (ticker, ISIN or fund name) is sent to our market-data
provider, to fetch the fund’s public price history. Nothing about you or your clients is sent.
- Weights and holdings you type: used for that calculation only. Holdings quantities and
portfolio values are never stored. The resulting weights and statistics are kept for 24 hours so you can ask
follow-up questions, then deleted automatically.
- Files you upload: used only for your questions, kept for 24 hours, then deleted
automatically.
- Where: uploaded files, results and job records are held in the United Kingdom (Azure UK South). C8 does not use any of it to train AI models.
- Please do not include client names or other personal details in a request or a file.

Common questions
Do I have to upload anything? No, not for listed funds and securities: name them and the agent
loads their history. Upload only when you want to use your own series.
How long is my data kept? Uploaded series, results and job records are kept for 24 hours so
that follow-up questions work, then deleted. Holdings quantities and portfolio values are never stored.
The agent says a result or dataset was not found. Ids expire after 24 hours. Ask again naming
the funds, or upload your series again and repeat the request with the new id.
A constraint set cannot be met. The answer says so and how close the engine got. Loosen the
tightest limit, usually the drawdown or turnover cap, and try again.
The app is not in our Teams or Copilot app list. Your tenant may restrict new apps.
Ask your IT administrator to deploy it from Integrated apps in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
